At St. Patrick's our children have the opportunity to learn French. Children learn a wide range of vocabulary and phrases, from greetings and conversational techniques, where they can talk about themselves, to sharing their likes and dislikes across a range of topics. They look at reading and writing in French also, with opportunities to create their own drama sketches and role plays, to use the language they are learning in a ‘real’ context.
We also look at Intercultural Understanding, where the children compare the traditions in the country they are studying with the traditions in England. They have the opportunities to look at dance, art, music and food tasting, to promote their understanding of the country as a whole.
